A story about what happens when survival becomes indistinguishable from surrender.
What it's about
In a world where power determines truth, compassion is treated as weakness, and the people who suffer most are often those who understand the least about the forces controlling their lives, two people are drawn into a relationship shaped by fear, obligation, and unequal power.
One has learned to survive by becoming someone the world cannot easily break. The other must navigate a reality in which resistance carries a terrible price, and obedience does not guarantee safety.
Beneath the cruelty lies a question that is far more disturbing than whether someone can endure suffering: what happens to a person when the very conditions that destroy their freedom also begin to shape their understanding of love?
It explores the uncomfortable space between choice and coercion, devotion and possession, resilience and self-erasure. It asks whether tenderness can survive in an environment designed to extinguish it, whether a person can reclaim their identity after being reduced to a function in someone else's world, and whether understanding the origins of cruelty can ever make its consequences easier to bear.
Its deepest tension is not simply between two people, but between the human capacity to love and the systems of power that distort what love becomes.
